What Our Families Say
Our daughter has been a student at Montessori Academy of Indianapolis for 2 1/2 years, and is now in kindergarten. The staff is warm, kind, and adheres to the principles of a Montessori education. Children are encouraged to learn and yet seek out experiences they need. We have found the staff’s ability to serve each child’s unique needs is exceptional. Our daughter has grown and developed because of the small group teaching, the school day routine, and the calm and directive environment. We see evidence at home of her self-esteem. The facility is well appointed for education. There are sufficient materials and space for the children. The play area is wonderful. The environment is secure. We value the relationship the staff has with not only the children, but with the parents. The staff knows each family, and this adds to both interaction and safety.

Our daughter was 13 1/2 months when she first began at Montessori Academy of Indianapolis. She was just getting started walking and beginning to talk. Now, a year and a half later, she has truly become her own independent person. We are seeing the qualities of a natural-born leader, someone who is confident in her own abilities, and has learned how to care about and to help others. Due to the special care and attention of the Montessori teachers and their methods of assisting, she is developing her potential and is enjoying every moment of it! We also notice that she is a global thinker. Her sentence structure is truly amazing. We find that she uses words that we as grownups often use, and even initiates conversations herself. I think most often we see how much she has developed when others who meet and interact with her for the first time think that she is at least a year ahead of where she actually is in age. Having the opportunity to be around children who model great behavior is a real blessing. The calmness and order of the learning environment are things we noticed from the very start. The children truly do enjoy being in such an atmosphere. We are grateful for this facility and its exceptional staff!

Throughout the past three years, we have watched our child develop in ways we could have never expected. We attribute her success to the calm environment, individual learning pace of each child, and most of all the low student/teacher ratio which has allowed for the teachers at the school to know our child almost as well as we know her ourselves. When a child spends 10 hours a day somewhere, it is critical that that child love the environment that they are in, know that attention is given to them, and that they are never left behind to have a chance to be bored or forgotten. The Montessori methods of teaching may not be familiar to everyone, but I can attest that our child has always been challenged. To further emphasize that point, our child showed visible changes in her academic skills within the first week of attending the school, and that was at age 2 1/2. Now she is six years old and is in the 2nd grade in the elementary program. She is reading at a 4th grade level, speaks French and Spanish, can write in cursive, and is beginning to learn fractions. We cannot say enough about the success we have had here, and hope others allow their children to take part in the experience.

We think Montessori Academy of Indianapolis is the most parent-friendly school in Indianapolis! They make it possible for working families like ours to provide our kids with an outstanding way of learning.

We were looking for an alternative to traditional childcare for our youngest preschool-age daughter when we found Montessori Academy of Indianapolis. The school has helped her learn how to read, speak Spanish (her pronunciations and inflections are excellent!), practice yoga, and interact with many other children of different cultures and backgrounds. She is reading well beyond her age level, and we love how she’s learned practical life skills that enable her to take care of herself and her surroundings. The teacher-student ratio is excellent, and because she maintains the same teacher throughout her preschool years (she doesn't change teachers every year as she did in daycare), we are able to establish a close relationship with her instructor. And, our daughter is able to help younger children in the class, which helps her independence and self-esteem greatly! Montessori Academy of Indianapolis is a wonderful alternative to traditional childcare options.
